Lancelot Minor Harris papers
The Lancelot Minor Harris papers contains personal papers, correspondence, and written materials. Papers include letters, poems, and clippings from and about poet Paul Hamilton Hayne of Charleston, South Carolina. Also included is correspondence between his wife Mary Middleton Hayne and his aunt Susan B. Hayne, poems and letters from Paul Hamilton Hayne's son William H. Hayne, and typescript poems of Arthur Hugh Clough and Sidney Lanier.
Irish Volunteers Company records
Organized in Charleston, South Carolina about 1798, the Irish Volunteers Company was first on active service in the War of 1812 where they served on patrol and constructed defenses. This collection contains typescript copies of "The History of the Irish Volunteers Company" (1798-1836) and minutes from organizational meetings from 1884-1901 and 1915-1929. They were transcribed during a Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) project from 1935 to 1937.
