Bernice Violanthe Robinson (1914-1994) was born in Charleston, South Carolina to James C. and Martha Elizabeth Robinson. She was a cosmetologist, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Secretary and Chairperson of Membership, Highlander's first Citizenship School teacher for adult education on John's Island, South Carolina.
