Charleston Chamber of Commerce records
Records (1823-1923) include rules, awards, proposed constitution and by-laws, an annual report, and membership lists. A typescript copy of “Rules Charleston Chamber of Commerce Adopted to March 1858,” transcribed from the original by Agnes P. Lyons as part of a 1935-1936 W.P.A. project, contains a list of names of individual members whose signatures are on the document. A typescript copy of “Awards” transcribed by Mabel Whiting and Julia W. Reynolds during a 1935-1936 W.P.A. project contains records and an index to the names of individuals and companies involved in arbitration decisions made by the Chamber of Commerce from 1876-1882. A broadside contains the “proposed” (in pencil) constitution and by-laws of “The Charleston Advertising Club.” A printed copy of the annual report of the Chamber of Commerce (1921) records the activities of the Chamber and its committees. Records contain several membership lists. A clipping (1918) contains a list of members arranged alphabetically by type of business. A printed roster (1923) contains names of members arranged alphabetically with handwritten annotations noting the addresses of many of the members. A printed roll (n.d.) also contains the names of members arranged by type of business.
