Bill of sale from Marx E. Cohen, 1873
The bill is made out to D.A. Stuckey for $40.50. Stuckey sold Cohen a bale of cotton and was paid in credit at Cohen's store. The bill lists approximately eighteen items bought with the credit, including oil, cotton, calico, salt, rice, gingham, ginger, and a pair of boots.

Sokol (1908-1967) was the owner and operator of the Oscar Sokol Agency, a subsidiary of the Milwaukee Insurance Company, located at 29 Broad Street, Charleston, South Carolina. Sokol would later become a successful real estate developer in Charleston.
