Papers related to former South Carolina House of Representative member Irene K. Rudnick's political career and family and consists mostly of miscellaneous election ephemera: bumper stickers, an election poster, a flier, photocopied clippings, and a photograph of Rudnick with other public officials. Additionally, there is one colorized black-and-white family portrait of an unidentified couple.

Biographical Note

Irene Krugman Rudnick (1929-2019) was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina and later lived in Aiken, South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina for her bachelor's degree and its law school for her law degree. After graduating law school, Irene opened a law practice in Aiken, married Harold Alan Rudnick, and had two children.

She taught legal classes at University of South Carolina Aiken for 57 years. She began her political career as Superintendent of Education for Aiken County. In 1972, she was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives from District 81 in Aiken where she served for 14 years.
