Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney papers
Abstract
Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney, was the Executive Director of the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture and Chair of the College of Charleston History Department. He became director of the Avery Research Center in 1994 and chair of the History Department in 1998. He served in both positions from 1998-2000. In addition to leading the Avery Research Center and the History Department, he has also served on numerous local, state and national boards, including the Cannon Street YMCA, 100 Black Men of Charleston, the Palmetto Project and the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History. This collection contains correspondence, program notes, and articles that relate to the development, operation and the second phase of the renovation of the Avery Research Center and includes documents regarding The African American National Heritage Museum and The Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History. It also includes some materials pertaining to Dr. Dulaney's classes and other activities at the College.
