Collection Overview From the Collection:

The collection consists of five photographs of Mel Kraus, a U.S. soldier who served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Photographs show Kraus working in France, where his squadron was based. Included is a photocopy of a two-page flight manifest detailing the August 1945 transport of Nazi prisoners to Nuremberg, Germany, in preparation for the war crimes trials held there later that year.

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a flight manifest written by Kraus in August 1945, listing eight Nazi prisoners his squadron transported to Nuremberg for the war crimes trials. A second page lists eight additional prisoners; it is unclear if these prisoners were transported on the same flight.

The collection consists of slides and photocopies of approximately 80 post-World War II photographs collected by Heyward Shealey, a U.S. serviceman. Images show locations in Berlin, some with damage from the war, and other European locations where Shealey traveled while on furlough, including London. Images from Berlin include the Olympic Stadium, Brandenburg Gate, and Potsdamer Platz. Slides include multiple copies of each image. Digital images on DVD are also included.

Collection Overview From the Collection:

The collection consists of photographs, booklets, and maps related to Will McMasters, a captain in the 56th Armored Engineers Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. Photographs are of McMasters and fellow soldiers in the field during World War II, mostly working on pontoon bridge construction. Also included are nine Holocaust atrocity photographs from Mauthausen concentration camp, in Austria.
