Collection Overview From the Collection: Collection consists of twelve stereographs of rice and cotton cultivation in South Carolina (including Georgetown, South Carolina); Savannah, Georgia; Louisiana; and Mississippi, compiled by Gene Waddell. A majority of the stereographs were produced by the Keystone View Company but the collection also includes stereographs produced by Underwood & Underwood, the Kilburn Brothers, and American Views. The Phaethornis philippi is depicted on a plate numbered 21 in John Gould's A monograph of the Trochilidae, or, family of humming-birds. London: published by the author, 1861. This colored lithograph was drawn by H.C. Richter from Gould's sketches and printed by Hullmandel & Walter. Also included with the plate is the page which describes this South American hummingbird.
