Eight page gathering entitled "Copies of letters, &c." contains handwritten copies of the business letters of Edward P. Simons of Keating Simons & Sons. The first six letters (23 June 1821) inform individuals that they will sustain no injury from the theft of the bonds and notes of Bourdieu, Chollet & Bourdieu that were stolen from the Counting House of Keating Simons & Sons. The first letter is to Captain Donald Rowe concerning his agreement to purchase land on Edisto [Island] (S.C.) for $3,500. The second letter, addressed to Stephen Elliot, concerns a bond. The third letter is to Margaret and Benjamin Seabrook. The fourth letter to Benjamin Allston and Robert F. Withers concerns a bond payable to assignees of Charles Pinckney, and by them assigned to Henry Laurens, and afterwards transferred to Keating Simons. The fifth letter, addressed to Laura Ingraham, concerns a bond to Morton A. Waring (Federal Marshall). The sixth letter to M. Ellis and I. [Isaac] Emanuel concerns a bond to Morton A. Waring. The seventh letter (17 January 1822) is to William Mayrant who is authorized by Keating & Edward Simon to adopt the most effectual means of procuring payment of the bonds of Mr. Sumpter. The eighth letter (26 February 1822) to John Carter concerning a judgement related to the DuBois estate requests Carter remit the balance in cash from Colonel Blanding. The ninth letter (26 February 1822), to Blanding, relates to a judgment concerning Fisher Jarvis and Isaac Dubose. The tenth letter (n.d.) to William Mayrant concerns Mr. Sumpter's bonds, and interest and penalties. The eleventh letter (24 April 1822) to Blanding requests that he remit the money paid to him by Mr. Carter.
