Collection Overview
Typewritten transcriptions of original records held by St. John's Lutheran Church of Charleston, South Carolina, from 1742 to 1931. Transcripts were part of two Federal Works Progress Administration projects carried out from 1935 through 1937 and sponsored by the College of Charleston. Included are transcriptions of records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, births, and deaths, rules of the Lutheran Church of German Protestants, a journal containing the five articles of faith, the act of incorporation and rules of corporation, minutes including Sunday school association minutes, pew holder member's accounts, including a pew floor plan, and several cashbooks and a ledger.
