Abstract Frank George Hayne (1909-1984) was an African American dentist in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Avery Institute, Immaculate Conception High School, Fisk University and Meharry Medical College.The majority of this collection is comprised of black and white photographs from disassembled scrapbooks of Hayne and his wife Anita (Cole) Hayne's family members. The Mrs. Louise F. Holmes scrapbook collection contains one scrapbook that documents Mrs. Holmes's faith, love for poetry, and a broad range of other interests which reflect the life of African Americans in the Lowcountry and South Carolina. This collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, and memorabilia which follow the lives of the Holmes family in Charleston, S.C. and Florence, S.C.
