Scope Note: Items, usually of metal, flat, and rectangular or oval in shape, worn on the belt of a uniform or other costume. When part of a military uniform, often bear insignia of rank or unit. Includes plates worn on waist belts, shoulder belts, and sword belts. Usage sometimes overlaps with "belt plaques," which may be made of various materials, although items made of stone are typically called "belt plaques" rather than "belt plates."

Abstract

The collection consists mostly of copied materials, including photographs, memoirs, clippings, books, objects, and other papers. These materials were collected for the Holocaust Archives from Holocaust survivors, World War II veterans, and others, including liberators of German concentration camps, who settled in South Carolina.
