This collection has three series:

Series 1: Photographs: Cannon Street Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), 1951-1984, and undated

Contains black and white images (8x10 and 4x6 inches) with negative slides, mostly of the Little League baseball team and their coaches. The League was later referred to as the Cannon Street All-Stars.

Series 2: Newspaper Articles, 1951-1984, and undated

Holds photocopied newspaper articles/clippings, mostly from The News and Courier, Charleston, South Carolina. Organzied by subject.

Series 3: Life Magazine, 1968-1969

Contains five (5) issues of Life Magazine, scattered issues from the late 1960s.

Collection was donated by Mr. Allen Tibbs of Charleston, South Carolina to Avery Research Center in 1994. No other information is known about Mr. Tibbs.

Abstract

This small collection donated by Mr. Allen Tibbs (1994) contains black and white photographs of the Charleston Little League team with their coaches later known as the Cannon Street All-Stars. The collection holds images of the Cannon Street Basketball team (circa 1950s). Additionally, this collection has ephemera in the form of newspaper articles and scattered issues of Life Magazine, mostly likely collected for it's topical content on Black history and culture.
