Collection Overview
The papers of Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney consist of five series. The small first series of personal papers in the first series contains information about events and performances Dr. Dulaney attended, awards he received, and personal correspondence.
The second series reflects his time with the College of Charleston History Department and includes correspondence, office files, annual reports, teaching materials, and event records. In addition, there are a few meeting minutes and agendas for the department.
The third series focuses on his scholarship and is further divided into subseries about his writings, conferences he attended and appearances he made, research materials, and handwritten notes. Of special note are the files focused on the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
The fourth series is contains files about the various organizations, committees, and civic groups Dr. Dulaney participated in during his time in Charleston, including organizations focused on African American history and local education, the South Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board, and various committees with the City of Charleston and the wider Lowcountry region.
The final series is made up of files about College of Charleston outside of History Departments, including College committees, faculty senate, event planning, and conferences.
