Petrillo was best known for banning all commercial recordings by union members from 1942-1944 to pressure record companies to give better royalty deals to musicians. One piece of correspondence refers to a letter sent by Mrs. G.F. Patton, Chairman of Legislation of the South Carolina Federation of Music Clubs.
