Cook (1744-1818) after a work by Carmontelle-Delafosse depicting Leopold Mozart with Wolfgang and Maria Anna (Paris, 1763). It is captioned in French and includes an epigraph from Homer's Hymn on Mercury in Greek below. This engraving was reproduced in Daines Barrington's Miscellanies (London, 1781) accompanying an essay entitled, "Account of a very remarkable young musician." The Phaethornis philippi is depicted on a plate numbered 21 in John Gould's A monograph of the Trochilidae, or, family of humming-birds. London: published by the author, 1861. This colored lithograph was drawn by H.C. Richter from Gould's sketches and printed by Hullmandel & Walter. Also included with the plate is the page which describes this South American hummingbird.
