Two letters to Lyon Levy from Paul Hamilton
Collection Overview
These two letters preserved by the family were written to him by Paul Hamilton (1762-1816, later 3rd United States Secretary of the Navy). The first requests Levy to accept a position under Hamilton as Comptroller and Superintendent of Finance and is erroneously addressed to Louis Levi or Lewis Levi.

Biographical Note
Lyon Levy (1764-1835) immigrated from Woolwich, England to the United States and became a financier. He served as Treasurer of the State of South Carolina from 1817 to 1822.
