Biographical Note

Hubert Wilke (1921-2019) was born in Yonkers, New York, and attended Gorton High School. After high school he worked as a radio announcer in Florida, New York and Charleston, South Carolina. To promote the opening of the Charleston radio station, WUSN, he interviewed such celebrities as Bob Hope, Gloria Swanson, Walter Huston and Perry Como, and Mel Allen. During World War II, he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he organized and emceed weekly entertainment programs. After the war he worked as an advertising agency radio/TV producer in New York, where his credits include the shows "Crimes of Carelessness", "We the People" and Grantland Rice sportscasts. In 1957, he accepted a marketing position with the Group Communications Division of Teleprompter Corporation. In 1965 he founded Hubert Wilke, Inc., later The Wilke Organization, an independent communications facilities consulting company. In 1986, he joined the acoustical consulting firm Shen Milsom and helped the newly renamed Shen Milsom Wilke successfully expand its services in communications facilities design.
