Biographical Note
Charles Deas, born in 1818 in Philadelphia, was the fourth son of William Allen Deas (state senator of South Carolina) and Anne Izard Deas (daughter of Ralph Izard, the Revolutionary War patriot). Charles Deas was a painter best known for his scenes of the American West. He died in 1867.
