Assorted personal papers of Abe and Hannah Goldberg Schwartz from approximately 1918 to 1947. Papers consist of miscellaneous greeting cards, assorted World War II and, possibly, post-World War II era photographs of France, a photograph of General George S. Patton and Alexander Patch (with autographs), and a real photo postcard of an unidentified child.

Biographical Note

Hannah Goldberg Schwartz (1917-1978) was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to Harry Goldberg and Goldie Cohen Goldberg. She was a member of B’rith Shalom Beth Israel Synagogue and the National Council of Jewish Women. Her husband, Abe Schwartz (1915-2000), was born in New York, New York, to Samuel Schwartz and Lena Klein. He owned and operated an Exxon station on St. Philip and Calhoun streets.

Minimally processed by Josh Minor, July 2025. At the point of acquisition, this collection contained no original order. For preservation purposes, the collection was rehoused upon receipt by transferring materials into acid-free boxes and placing loose materials into acid-free folders. This finding aid may be updated periodically to account for new acquisitions to the collection and/or revisions in arrangement and description.
