Collection Overview

Assorted papers of the Drake family chiefly consisting of postcards and letters addressed to various family members, including postcards to and from Ben U. Drake during his time aboard the USS Dolphin. Papers also contain assorted photographs of a 1911 United Confederate Veterans Reunion parade held in Little Rock, Arkansas, a photograph of the USS Florida, an Arkansas-class monitor, and two tintype portraits, one unidentified and one depicting J.P. Drake. Also included is a program from the 1908 USS Dolphin annual ball.

Processing Information

Minimally processed by Josh Minor, January 2025. At the point of acquisition, this collection contained no original order. For preservation purposes, the collection was re-housed upon receipt by transferring materials into acid-free boxes and placing loose materials into acid-free folders. Box contents were used in order to create a preliminary inventory. This finding aid may be updated periodically to account for new acquisitions to the collection and/or revisions in arrangement and description.
