Details of travel from Charleston, SC to Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York, Bremen, Munich, Nuremberg, Heidelberg, Milan and other cities. With detailed descriptions of city sights, populations, manners, social customs. In US, he mentions many other Jewish families, such as Pembers, Tobiases, Hendrickses, etc. With a letter of introduction from "Jeff Davis," Lazarus went to Heidelberg to study; descriptions of lectures, a High Holy Day Service, the situation of Jews; 100th anniversary celebration birth of Schiller, sexual mores of Heidelberg, and many other topics.
