Collection Overview
Includes business records, financial documents, correspondence, photographs, photocopies, carbon copies, clippings, ephemera, pamphlets, scrapbooks, realia. Bulk of collection are records from Jack Krawcheck's business (filed alphabetically, in original order in which they were donated); vendor records exist for 1948-49, 1950-51 and 1951-52; files contain invoices, order forms, and occasional correspondence; also included are tax and banking information for same time periods and carbon copies of out-going correspondence (1952-53) to vendors and clients; misc. business records include expense sheets and estimated statements of profits and loss for 1948-1950. Collection contains five scrapbooks (spanning 1939-1974) of Jack Krawcheck's advertisements published in Charleston newspapers; includes articles about new locations and general sales announcements; two scrapbooks have been disassembled due to condition; all have been photocopied. Includes several folders of Krawcheck's personal records (1950-1980); correspondence, bank documents, receipts for fraternal memberships, cultural institutions, and hospital expenses; tax information, insurance claims and a newspaper article (1980) about Krawcheck's life and accomplishments. Series of black and white photographs (1939-1972) include interior images of 313 King Street store, Northwoods Mall location and the Krawcheck family (ca. 1960s). Collection also contains wood sign that hung outside Jack Krawcheck's.
