Collection Overview
Photographs of Schwartz, Brody and Golub families; loose photographs (1930-1950) of Brody family include group shots (with Esther Brody and Marion Schwartz) from Key Klub events (1930, 1932); candid images of Esther and friends (1940s); images of Marvin and Betty Brody (1940s-1950s); Michael Schwartz as a child; notable is a photograph (1955) of Marion Schwartz smashing slot machines under the Cooper River Bridge. Loose photographs (1910-1930) of the Golub family include cabinet card of elderly couple (Emma Golub's parents?), mounted photos of Golub Family (1920), Golub relatives (Schenectady, NY) and Ethel Golub with her daughter. Collection also contains two photo albums compiled by Esther Brody Schwartz. The first covers 1917-1922 and is primarily candid snapshots of Brody family members (Israel, Emma, Solomon, Joseph); bulk of Esther with friends. Several shots of Solomon Brody in military uniform (WWI); second album spans 1924-1934 and contains candid images of Esther Brody with friends and Golub cousins in New York; images (1930) of Key Klub beach and boat trips; series of photos (1930s) of Marion Schwartz and others in naval uniforms; Charleston architecture in background of many images; good examples of 1920s-1930s fashion. Collection also includes clipping (photocopy) of Marvin Brody on double date, 1954.
