The compact discs subseries primarily contains compact disc recordings of news broadcasts, radio programs, speeches given by L. Mendel Rivers, and dedication ceremonies honoring Rivers. Also of note are copies of General Douglas MacArthur's acceptance speech at the Thayer Award Ceremony held at West Point and L. Mendel Rivers' speech in honor of General Douglas MacArthur given on the Capital steps in Washington, D. C. Also heard are Vice-President and future President Lyndon B. Johnson, Speaker of the House John McCormack, and General Douglas MacArthur.
