Scope and Contents

Two copies of a transcript of L. Mendel Rivers' participation as a guest on the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) program Meet the Press. Rivers fielded questions on various topics including the draft, the Vietnam War, President Lyndon B. Johnson, General Westmoreland, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, the construction of a new hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, Navy ship construction, the Civil Rights movement, and Nuclear Missile Defense.
