Abstract
Margaretta Pringle Childs (1912-2000) worked as an archivist at the College of Charleston, was head archivist for the City of Charleston, and a field archivist for the South Carolina Historical Society. In addition to her archival work, Childs was a member of the Charleston Interracial Committee and a Civil Rights activist.

Abstract
Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1882 in Charleston, South Carolina after the church divided from Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, due to its inability to accommodate all its members. The new congregation, led by Norman B. Sterrett, purchased the Zion Presbyterian Church building on Glebe Street.
