Abstract

Bobbie Nuite Auld grew up in Georgia and attended Furman University. Her interest in preserving the tradition of African American spirituals and gospel music led her to develop this collection. Auld retired from the Medical University of South Carolina and resides in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This Collection contains programs from concerts and church services along with 51 audiotapes of musical performances, oral history interviews, conversations spoken in or about the Gullah Geechee language and programs held at the Rural Mission on John's Island, South Carolina.
