Holds articles from The Charleston Messenger, 7 Ju1y 1923. Includes articles, "How to Keep the State Poor," (circa 1920s); "More Negroes in County Schools," (circa 1928); and the passing of Herbert A. DeCosta, (1960). Of interest are articles ("Round and About Town," Marva Wants School Charm: Stresses Need for Varied Cosmetics for Race Women")on Marva Louis, boxer Joe Louis' wife, regarding her stay in Charleston. It is noted that, "Members of the Vogue Club and Marva Louis being treated to a boat ride Tuesday abroad Dr. H.U. Seabrook's private yacht and Mrs. Seabrooks drawing pretty comments..." (circa 1930s-1942). With scattered undated poems from newspapers.
