Scope and Contents
Materials include 13 audiocassettes containing sound recordings of the South Carolina Voices of the Civil Rights Movement conference, corresponding transcripts, an index of the transcripts, and photocopies of the original housings of audiocassettes, which needed to be replaced while being reformatted.

The collection is open for research. A cassette player is required to listen to the audiocassette tapes. A cassette player will be made available to researchers in our reading room. The Avery Research Center does not currently have the technology to play the UCA60 videocassettes.

Abstract
Recording includes the beginning of the Education panel moderated by Edmund Drago (Professor of History at College of Charleston) with Walker Solomon (Palmetto State Teachers Association), J. Arthur Brown (former President of the Charleston Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)), John H. Wrighten (Attorney, former plaintiff in USC Law School Case), Jessica P. Brown (former teacher in Charleston County Schools), Millicent Brown (student plaintiff in Brown v. Charleston District Twenty School Board), Henry P. Hutchinson (former teacher in Charleston Schools), William "Billy" Fleming (Clarendon County School Case), Christopher Gantt (Parent, Clemson University Desegregation Case), and Viola Duval Stewart (plaintiff, Charleston Equalization of Teachers' Salary) participating.
