Scope and Contents
The collection is arranged in three series documenting Richard T. Greene, Sr.'s biographical information, life as a student at the Avery Normal Institute, and affiliation with the Avery Institute for Afro-American History and Culture.
Series I: Biographical Materials, 2006, and Undated contains an undated biographical sketch written after Richards's passing, an undated resume, and a photograph of him standing in front of the Avery Research Center.
Series II: Education, bulk: 1929-1933, 1929-2004 documents Richard's life as a student at the Avery Normal Institute. The series contains event invitations and programs, class notes for literature, economics, and French, debate club minutes, and drafts of articles for the school newspaper. It also includes a scrapbook containing event invitations and programs, photographs, school newspaper clippings, and signatures and messages from classmates.
Series III: Affiliations, 1999-2003 includes materials from Richard's affiliation with the Avery Institute of Afro-American History and Culture. It contains the Winter 1999 issue of The Bulletin, a holiday card, and a handwritten note from Leila Potts Campbell.
