Scope and Contents
The James E. Brown, D.D.S. papers, 1925-2004, is arranged in two series documenting Dr. Brown's professional and civic affiliations as well as the education of his daughter, Jamella Brown Jaglal.
Series I: Affiliations, 1925-2004 documents Dr. Brown's professional and civic affiliations and is arranged in two corresponding subseries. The first subseries covers his professional work and affiliation with the Palmetto Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association. Materials include programs from annual meetings, a reproduction of the program from the annual meeting held in 1925, the Centennial Award that Dr. Brown received, and a written history of the PMDPA prepared for the association's centennial anniversary. The second subseries covers his civic affiliations and materials include certificates, awards, and tributes. Groups represented in this subseries include the Charleston Museum, MOJA Arts Festival, Owls Whist Club, St. Paul AME Church, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
Series II: Family Members, 1981 contains Jamella Brown Jaglal's 1981 Howard University commencement program.
