The McCottry Smith Family papers was created by Cynthia McCottry Smith. The bulk of this information was collected between 1950 and 1996 by members of the McCottry and Smith families. The arrangement of materials are organzed into 3 main series: The Families, Lowcountry Materials, and Media.

Created by Lorraine McCottry Taylor, the family directory houses the most extensive ancestrial history within this collection. The booklet lists names, residences, and phone numbers of all McCottry family members dating back to 1869. This item can be used by researches for individual identification and helps insue a broad lineage structure for the family.
