Biographical/Historical note
Daisy Alethia DeCosta (1892-1977) was the third child born to Benjamin and Anna DeCosta. She married Lightburne Bennett Caffey (1883-1959) and had one son, Lightburne Bennett Caffey, Jr. (1924-1997). Daisy was a graduate of Avery Institute and a Charleston Public School teacher until they moved to New York. L. Bennet Caffey, Jr. was taken from New York to live in Charleston with his uncle, Frank DeCosta, in 1938. He married Pauline Reese Marsh (born 1928), in which two daughters were born. Christine Alethia Caffey (born 1951) married Luther K. Williams in 1975.
