Biographical/Historical note
Elizabeth DeCosta (1887-1952) was the first child born to Benjamin Rhodes DeCosta and Anna Harrenburg. She graduated from Avery Institute in 1905 and worked as an educator at the Charleston Industrial School. She married Wilbur Minot in 1913 and had two children, both of whom died in infancy. After the death of her husband, Elizabeth married Augustus Sartor (1867-1942).
