Abstract
Joseph C. James served the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in several capacities: Deacon, elder, and Minister. James served congregations throughout South Carolina, including Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Kingstree, Orangeburg, Columbia, and elsewhere. In Charleston, he was affiliated with the Ebenezer AME Church, and owned a home as well as rental property.
