Abstract
The Gethsemane Baptist Association, a regional organization established in 1867, was the first Black Baptist Association in South Carolina. In 1877, it was renamed as the Ashley Baptist Association. This collection contains minutes of conference meetings held throughout the region as well as statistical data and governing documents for the association.
